Cody Canada & The Departed

Genre: Americana/Red Dirt

Tyler & The Tribe Opens

Advance Tickets Recommended; 9:00PM

The latest incarnation of the Cody Canada-led group, The Departed, isn’t a reinvention of the group’s sound, or a reimagining of Canada’s musical perspective – it’s a reunion. Canada, Jeremy Plato, Chris Doege and Steve Littleton are reopening the doors to a sonic garage where sounds and stories that some thought were gone for good are now being unleashed onto an eager public after a few years of fruitful – even risky -- artistic diversion. Following Seth James’ amicable exit earlier this year, Canada’s appreciation for the work he created as he fronted Cross Canadian Ragweed is intact. Unsurprisingly, fans are exuberantly responding to the inclusion of CCR classics such as “Alabama,” “Dimebag,” and “17” into set-lists of Departed shows. The refitted outfit is channeling the power chords and raw-bone ballads which vaulted Canada into the status as Red Dirt’s biggest name for so long.

Genre: Indie Rock

Nikki Lane Opens

Advance Tickets Recommended; 7:45PM

Jenny Lewis is one of the most celebrated and well-respected performers of her generation. Beginning her career in 1998 as the frontwoman of Rilo Kiley, the band rose from the burgeoning independent music community in Los Angeles to become one of the most dynamic and influential bands of the early 2000’s. By 2006, Lewis began her solo career with the album “Rabbit Fur Coat” and soon followed it up with 2008’s “Acid Tongue”, establishing herself as a songwriter moving beyond the confines of indie-rock into more timeless territory once occupied by artists like Laura Nyro and Emmylou Harris. She has collaborated with many other artists and bands, most notably with Elvis Costello, Ryan Adams, T. Bone Burnett and M. Ward. In the summer of 2010, Lewis formed the duo Jenny and Johnny with songwriter Johnathan Rice and released the album “I’m Having Fun Now.”

Uncle Lucius

Genre: Americana/Roots-Rock

Garrett Lebeau Opens

Advance Tickets Recommended; 8:00PM

South Austin’s Uncle Lucius is a dream, conjured in the minds of five sonic mercenaries, a clarion call to arms for true believers. It is the voice that shakes you from complacency, grabs you with both hands and implores: Get in the van!!! Like the city that brought them together, UL is a gumbo, with hints of Americana and folk juxtaposed with a slow-cooked roux that is steeped in classic rock n roll and the blues. The resulting flavor is familiar and unique, roots at its most refined, albeit with a gutbucket foundation. After eight years of touring across Texas and to both coasts and back, UL was named 2014’s Best New Band by the Texas Regional Radio Report. They are currently in preproduction for their next studio recording, with the album to be released in early 2015.

Advance Tickets Recommended; 8:00PM

Hal Michael Ketchum is a carpenter who builds things made with wood and crafts songs made of silk. Hal moved to the Gruene area from upstate New York where he was born and bred. He stumbled onto Gruene Hall by accident and fell in love with the music scene. He scored his own Sunday afternoon show after recording a four song demo in his basement that contained the first songs that he ever wrote, including "The Preacher and Me”, which still stands strong today. He soon recorded his first album which triggered a quick ticket to fame with his first single, a song called "Small Town Saturday Night", which hit number one in 1991. A subsequent string of hits soon followed and he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1994. After a four year hiatus from the music business due to health and personal problems, Hal is back and sounding better than ever.
